Possible Reasons
- Antenna not installed before turning the device on during initial setup → Result: scanning for signal drains battery
- Sensor not charged overnight (at least 12h) before use → Result: not enough charge for proper (1-year battery life) operation
- Device not turned on properly → Result: probe stays asleep
- Device shut down by user before installation by holding the button for too long > 8 seconds
Steps to Resolve (Follow in Exact Order)
(We often notice the steps below are not always properly followed during the initial setup. Make sure you do so to ensure proper operation.)
- Open the device by unscrewing the ring
- Install device antenna
- Plug in USB-C charging cable (1.5 ampere chargers preferred)
- Make sure the room temperature is not above 40 degrees Celsius (charge protection)
- Turn on the device by holding the button for approx 5 seconds
- Wait for green LED, do not release earlier. Release right after it appears.
- It can take up-to 6 hours before the first platform readings are visible
- If you don’t see the sensor in the platform yet, scan the QR code
- Use the QR scan functionality from the camera on your phone
- Use the Farm21 app, which has a build in QR code scanner
- Wait for 12 hours
- Assemble device again
- Confirm with [email protected] or in application chat the sensor is properly connecting
