  • Which countries do you support?

    We offer connectivity in 140+ countries accross the globe, including Europe, USA, Canada, most of South America, Russia, most of Asia, Australia, and some countries in Africa. Go to this graph to see if your country is included. 

  • Can I change the email address of my account?

    It is possible to change the email address, however you cannot do this yourself. Please contact us and we will change it manually.
     

  • Can other users make changes in the dashboard?

    Yes that is possible. Check our step-by-step guide on how you can make a user admin.
     

  • Can multiple users view the data of my sensor?

    Yes, you can add multiple users to your dashboard to view the sensor data. Check our step-by-step guide on how to add a new user.
     

Ordering and Shipping

  • Does my subscription start after the order date?

    No. The subscription of your sensor will start as soon as you have activated the sensor by adding it to your account in the platform. 

  • Why is the sensor subscription not added to my order?

    The subscription of your sensor will be paid seperately. After activating the sensor, you will be directed to the page where you can enter and save your payment details. From that moment the subscription will be active. 

  • Is the license on a monthly basis?

    No. The sensor license is on a yearly basis. The license will automatically be renewed if the sensors are not deactivated before renewal. Check this step-by-step guide to deactivate the sensor.
     

  • Do I receive an invoice?

    Yes, after ordering the sensors you will automatically receive the invoice by email.
     

  • Can my order be exempted from VAT?

    Yes, this only applies for companies based outside the Netherlands. After you check out with your order, you have to select your country and add your VAT number. The VAT will then automatically be exempted from your order.
     

  • What payment methods do you provide?

     The following payment methods are supported:

    • Credit card (Stripe)
    • Bank transfer (handled by Mollie payments)
    • iDeal  

Sensor

  • How many Farm21 sensors can I install?

    There is no limit on the maximum number of sensors! Farm21’s platform scales with you and your business.

  • How long does the battery last?

    Depending on weather conditions, antenna distance and type of connectivity (NB-IoT and LTE-M are best) the battery should last up to one year on a single charge.

  • What kind of battery does the Farm21 field sensor use?

    For the FS21: Rechargeable 5500mah battery (can be charged over USB-C)

    For the FS11: a standard 3.0V CR123A battery (also known under the following names: CR123, 17345 and 16340).

  • Raining has stopped but the sensor remains to show a high air humidity for several hours, why?

    Yes. Our FS21 sensors have a GPS tracker, but during the installation process the system stores your smartphone’s current location as the sensor location as well. In the platform the location of the sensor can be easily adjusted when incorrect or when the sensor is moved to another spot.

  • Is the location of the sensor automatically stored?

    Yes. Our FS21 sensors have a GPS tracker, but during the installation process the system stores your smartphone’s current location as the sensor location as well. In the platform the location of the sensor can be easily adjusted when incorrect or when the sensor is moved to another spot.

  • Can I fully bury the Farm21 sensor underground?

    No, this sensor is designed to be visible above the soil. However – the robust hardware means that you can spray, irrigate and treat crops with the sensors in place.

    Each sensor has a depth indication line that tells you how far to place the sensor in the soil.

  • How do I install the Farm21 sensor?

  • How many sensors do I need?

    We often get asked this, but the answer is not straightforward. It really depends on the crop type, the consistency of your field and your data accuracy requirements.

    Usually we advise an average of 1 sensor per 1.5ha, as a very general recommendation. Contact us and one of our partnership managers will make sure you have the perfect amount of sensors for your needs.

  • How accurate are the measurements?

    Soil moisture: this depends on how the sensor is placed and whether the right soil type is selected. In general a soil moisture accuracy of +/-3% can be achieved when the required installation procedure is followed.

    Relative Humidity Accuracy @25°C (20%RH to 80%RH): ±2 %RH.

    Accuracy temperature soil and air: ±1°C or better.‍ 

  • What does the Farm21 soil sensor measure?

    🌤️ Relative air humidity (percentage of moisture in relation to the maximum moisture percentage of the air for this temperature)

    🌡️ Air temperature

    🌱soil temperature at -10cm, (FS21 has an additional sensor at -20cm) and soil moisture at depth -10cm, -20cm and -30cm.

Sensor data

  • Can I export my data?

    Yes, all data can be exported to common formats.

  • Can the data from the Farm21 sensor automatically be redirected to other platforms?

    Automatically redirecting the data for the Farm21 sensor is possible on request. Feel free to contact us

  • Can I add the data from other sensors to the Farm21 dashboard?

    At this point in time only Farm21 sensors can be added to the dashboard. Feel free to leave a feature request if you think this should be possible.

  • My data does not show up on the Farm21 data platform, what is wrong?

    As soon as a battery is placed inside the Farm21 soil sensor, it will attempt to connect with the network. Once a secure data connection is obtained, the sensor will transmit data once every hour. If the sensor is outside reach for the network, data will not show up in the data platform. Consider the installation of a dedicated gateway in order to improve network coverage.

  • Is my data transmitted securely?

    All data is transmitted encrypted.

  • Is the Farm21 sensor able to save data in areas with no signal?

    Yes, as long as it has a battery. An internal storage enables the device to gather data.
